Project challenge

Steeped in history and part of the prestigious Marriot Autograph Collection, St. Ermin’s Hotel is a grade II-listed late Victorian building situated in central London built on the site of a 15th century chapel. Converted from a mansion to a hotel in 1899, St. Ermin’s boasts the individuality and style of a boutique with the facilities and services expected of a four star facility.

St. Ermins has an illustrious history of embracing the latest technology for their guest’s comfort and convenience. In 1910 they replaced their antiquated bell pull system with a state of the art telephone system to improve their service levels. This ethos has continued to modern day and lead the Hotel to replacing their existing TVs to the latest Samsung hospitality TVs.

St Ermins were looking to significantly upgrade their existing Televisions to a state of the art LED TV entertainment solution without compromising the classic style and architecture of the hotel. The new solution would also need to be installed quickly and quietly across the 6 floors, 290 rooms, 41 suites, bars, offices and staff canteen without interrupting the day to day operations of the hotel.

St Ermins motto is “A home to you, a hotel to us”, so they wanted to ensure that they provide their guests with a similar entertainment experience as to what they would enjoy at home. This included access to the latest and greatest entertainment along with the ability to connect a wide range of digital devices to the hospitality TV.

Project solution

Lumino AV implemented a full IPTV and entertainment solution of 372 Samsung HD690 Series SMART Hospitality TVs. These were professionally installed in all the hotels rooms, suites, bars, offices and canteen over a period of just 15 working days.

The installation included Apple TV and Nevaya Cloud Entertainment. This enabled the hotel guests to easily connect their personal devices such as phones, laptops and tablet PCs through a simple easy to use menu.

In addition the Nevaya system provided St Ermins the ability to show their own branded content as well as provide the guests access to a wide range of entertainment. This included:

• Free view channels
• International channels
• Catchup TV such as iPlayer, 4oD, YouTube etc…
• Pay per view movies - pre-lease movie blockbusters
